Thanks to a new ranking from the villa rental company CV Villas, backed by science, we can now pinpoint exactly where the bluest waters in Europe are found.
To compile the ranking, researchers created a long list of the most popular and beautiful beaches. This was followed by a color analysis, which involved taking unedited images of the beaches from Google Maps and using a color dropper tool to determine the exact shade of the water. This shade was then compared with the official bluest shade of blue, YInMn Blue.
The beach Pasqyra, or Mirror Beach, in Albania, turns out to have the bluest waters in the world. It’s located near Saranda and Ksamil.
However, Greece still dominates the list, claiming 5 out of the top 10 spots. With so many beautiful islands and coastlines, it’s no surprise that our country ranked so high. Interestingly, these five beaches are not among the most famous in Greece.
In second place is the vast sandy Bouka Beach in Messinia, and in third, Kassiopi Beach in Corfu.
A little further down, in sixth place, is Voulisma Beach in Crete. Located in the second bay of Istron in Agios Nikolaos, it’s known as “Golden Sand.”
In seventh place is Foki Beach in Kefalonia, just minutes away from the cosmopolitan Fiskardo. This small but charming beach is easily accessible, with stunning crystal-clear waters and pebbles.
Finally, in ninth place, we see Ombros Gialos, also in Crete, in the Chania region. This is a rocky cove with calm, deep blue waters.
