When it comes to beaches where sea turtles come to lay their eggs, it’s essential for all of us to exercise particular care.
Here are some simple guidelines to follow if you encounter a Caretta caretta nest or even baby turtles on the beach. While stumbling upon hatchlings might seem rare, it is, in fact, quite common in certain areas!
On beaches where turtles come to lay their eggs, we must all be especially cautious. If you spot a nest on the beach, do not approach it and, most importantly, do not disturb anything. Avoid placing umbrellas and sunbeds over the nest, driving or riding motorcycles over it, or allowing dogs to dig around it. A turtle nest is not a playground or an opportunity for exploration.
We must respect nature and allow it to operate undisturbed. If you see tracks from a turtle or hatchlings, notify ARCHELON, the Sea Turtle Protection Society, about their location at: 210 8982 600, 6932 640 949 or via email at [email protected].
