Αγιοφάραγγο

Crete is a magical place, filled with well-hidden secrets.

One of these is Agiofarago, a beach that remains largely unknown, yet those who discover it are stunned by its beauty.

The scenery is so breathtaking that Agiofarago feels like a piece of paradise on earth. With turquoise waters set against an imposing rocky backdrop, this wild landscape will captivate you.

Located in the Heraklion region, about 80 km from the city, the beach is somewhat challenging to reach.

To get there, you must traverse the gorge of the same name, a 20 to 30-minute hike. Alternatively, you can arrive by boat from Matala, Kali Limenes, or Agia Galini.

However, the trek through the “Gorge of Saints” is truly a remarkable experience.

Those who choose this route will have the opportunity to explore large caves where hermits once lived, the church of Saint Anthony with a small well, and Gumenospilio, a gathering place for hermits.
